Deep amber with a thick, creamy head. The nose is complex and exciting with waves of dry and sweet malt with supporting dried fruits, caramel, spicy hop accents, and hints of baking spices and balsamic. The palate echoes the nose with a dense fruit and malt driven core flanked by spice, hop, and concentrated ale notes with trailing notes of allspice. Full-bodied with dense and creamy malt that is kept perfectly balanced with a bright dose of acidity. 5 Stars

  • St. Feuillien Cuvée Noel (Belgium)

Deep amber to mahogany color. The aromatics are wonderfully complex and inviting. With a little time in the glass you are confronted with scents of fruitcake, toffee, treacle, cherry, sweet malted barley, currants, and brown baking spices. The palate delivers the promise of the nose. Lush while balanced with baked fruit flavors accented by spice and a fine carbonation. Lovely. 4 Stars

  • Brouwerij Van Steenberge Piraat (Belgium)

Intense golden-yellow hue. Pours with a huge, rocky white head. Full-bodied. Candied, sweet malt aromas with complex spiced accents. Intensely malty and sweet with a chewy, thick mouthfeel. Spicy hops come through on the warm finish. This is a thick, warming brew, with a touch of intentionally cloying character. Beware of its potency. 4 Stars
